"I've always loved to create. After becoming a mom, my creations have taken a new direction. My passion for color and love of nature, which used to develop into paintings, has transformed into a more functional, and less messy form....fiber. Inspired by my loved ones, I now design and create little treasures to make life a tad more colorful and interesting. I learned to knit in grade school, but didn't keep up with it. As an Occupational Therapy student in college, I had to learn again for a therapeutic activities course. Being a busy college student, again, I didn't keep up with it. On a family trip to the Northwoods three years ago, where it did nothing but rain, my mom, once again, taught me the basics. This time I was addicted. Since then, I have tried to add a new skill or technique to each project I create. After mastering the basics and learning to follow patterns, I started to design my own. I now have patterns for sale and also sell my knitted creations at Verde. My design process often begins with a vision of something for my kids that I can't quite seem to find the right pattern for, so I design what I envision, letting the color, fiber and texture go where it will. One of the reasons I was so eager to work with Verde is their eco-conscious business model. Whenever possible, I buy my supplies locally and work almost exclusively with natural fibers. All of my knit items available at Verde are original designs."
